Taking Up Space Is Not Pride

For the woman who keeps shrinking so others feel comfortable.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned that being small was the same as being humble. So we soften our gifts, downplay our wins, and stay quiet in rooms we earned our way into. That isn’t humility. It’s hiding.

Jesus said no one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Your gifts were given to be used, and they were given for other people’s benefit as much as yours.

Taking up the space God gave you is an act of stewardship.

Real humility knows where the gift came from and gives God the glory. It doesn’t pretend the gift isn’t there.

So speak up in the meeting. Share the win. Accept the compliment with a simple thank you. Take up the space God has given you is an act of stewardship.
