“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” I have read Isaiah 43:19 a hundred times, but I didn’t understand it until I was standing in my own wilderness.
Nobody tells you that the new thing usually starts in a dry place. The old season ends before the new one shows up. In between, there’s a stretch where nothing looks like progress, and it is easy to believe you took a wrong turn.
God didn't promise a way around the wilderness. He promised a way through it.
But God didn’t promise to take Israel around the wilderness. He promised to make a way through it. The wilderness is where you learn to hear Him without the noise. It is where you find out who you are when the titles and the applause are gone.
If you are what I call the “in-between”, you are not lost. You are being prepared so keep walking. You’re almost there.
