Ask Elicia: Vol. I, No. Two

A reader wonders if her new beginning came too late.

This week’s letter came from a sister in Atlanta. After fifteen years in a career that paid the bills and drained her spirit, she’s ready to start the ministry she has been carrying in her heart. Her question is one I hear every week: is it too late for me?

Sis, those fifteen years were not wasted. They were training. You learned how to manage people, how to keep going on hard days, and how to stay faithful in places that didn’t celebrate you. All of that comes with you into what’s next.

Starting over is still starting.

Scripture is full of late starts. Abraham and Sarah waited decades for the promise. Moses was eighty when he stood before Pharaoh. God doesn’t run on our timeline, and He doesn’t waste a season.

So here is my advice. Stop asking if it’s too late and start asking what’s first. Write down one step you can take this month. Then take it. Starting over is still starting, and starting is where becoming begins.

With grace, Elicia
