Prepare for the Week with Care

October 23 | The Guide

Before planning another busy week, spend a little time noticing the one you have just lived.

Leave room for rest and connection

What helped? What created unnecessary strain? What did you keep postponing?

Your answers can guide a gentle reset.

Choose a few useful actions and leave enough time to enjoy your weekend.

Repeat what worked

Write down three things that supported you this week.

Perhaps you packed lunch, asked for clarification, called a friend, or kept an evening free.

Choose one to repeat.

A useful routine deserves attention even when it seems too ordinary to count as progress.

Check your kitchen herbs

Look through the culinary herbs you already have.

Read the labels, check their condition, and identify what you would like to use in the coming week. Follow the storage instructions on packaged products.

Choose one meal around an herb you enjoy. Thyme might go into soup, rosemary into roasted vegetables, or dill into a bean salad.

Keeping a small kitchen notebook can help. Record the meal, the herb, and what you would change next time.

This gives your herbal learning continuity without requiring a complicated project.

Prepare one useful thing

Choose a task that will reduce friction next week.

Wash a container for your lunch. Make a grocery list. Prepare breakfast ingredients. Put an appointment on the calendar.

Stop after the task you selected.

A reset can remain small and still be worthwhile.

Leave room for rest and connection

Look at the weekend before accepting another commitment.

Is there time to sleep, eat without rushing, and spend time with someone whose company you enjoy?

Consider what you can reasonably protect.

In Mark 6:30–32, Jesus invites the apostles to come away and rest following a demanding period of ministry.

Read the passage and reflect on where a pause could fit within your responsibilities.

End with a realistic intention

Choose one priority for the coming week and name its first step.

Then close the planning session.

You have given next week some attention. You can return to the day in front of you.

Scripture for reflection: Mark 6:30–32.

Weekend practice: Repeat one helpful habit, plan one meal with a familiar culinary herb, and protect one period of rest.

Journal prompt: What would help me enter next week feeling supported?

XOXO, Elicia
